What Power?

For those of you not in the southwest you may not have heard about our exciting evening yesterday. Yesterday afternoon there was a problem at a power plant in Yuma Arizona that spread to the San Onofre plant causing us to loose to power in San Diego county, Imperial county, most of Orange and south to parts of Mexico. We were watching a volleyball game at the time and didn't realize that anything had happened for a while. Thankfully we were only a few miles from home and were able to get home without any problems.

It was amazing being in our Apartment complex with everyone outside, at the pool and on their patios. We had plenty of leftovers, water and wine. We were able to produce enough light to cook some dinner on the BBQ with friends and enjoy some ice cream before it melted. We got out power back after 1pm last night, now we're all just taking things slow to make sure we don't loose power again today.

Hot HOt HOT!!

Even though summer started right on time in San Diego this year it's decided to stick around a bit longer. Out of no where we got hit with a heat wave the 1st week of September. I got home yesterday to see our patio in the sun was 110 degrees, the one in the shade was much cooler at 101! I'm just about to start counting down days until it cools down enough that I can actually wear one of the many things I've knitted... so ready for some cooler weather :)

Paddle time

On of my coworkers took me out paddle boarding for the firs time, in the lagoon in Carlsbad. I was soooo much fun! I have wanted to try it for a few years now but hadn't had a chance to. I can see and feel know why people say it's such a good work out. Th water was nice and calm and a great night to watch the sunset.

Mostly I was just amazed that with all my lack of balance that I was actually able to stand without fall... too much :) I will definitely be out on the water again soon!
